How a Mobile Shot Blasting System Works?

A floor shot blasting machine system has three main parts: the blasting head, the dust collector, and the control panel. The blasting head contains one or two blast wheels. Each wheel has a control cage and an impeller. The operator sets the blast pattern by rotating the control cage. Steel shot feeds from the hopper into the center of the wheel. The wheel throws the shot through a blast opening onto the floor.
After impact, the shot bounces back up into the machine housing. A suction fan creates negative pressure. This pulls the shot and dust through a separation chamber. Heavy shot falls down into the storage hopper. Light dust and debris go through the hose to the dust collector. The dust collector has filter cartridges. An automatic backflush system blows compressed air through the filters at set intervals. This knocks off the dust so the filters stay clean.
The operator walks behind the machine or rides on a tow unit for larger models. Speed control is variable. Slower speed means deeper cleaning. Faster speed means lighter surface preparation. The whole system runs on electric power. A diesel generator can supply power for remote job sites.
Benefits of Using a Floor Shot Blaster

1. Efficient cleaning without chemicals
The machine removes dirt, oil, old coatings, and markings quickly using only mechanical impact, so you save time and labor costs while avoiding hazardous waste. Typical cleaning speed reaches 300–600 m²/h on concrete.
2. Improves surface friction and safety
Floor shot blasting machine creates a uniform, open texture on concrete or asphalt, which increases grip between tires and the road, reducing the risk of skidding and accidents. Achieves friction values above 60 BPN for safe pavement.
3. Low operating and maintenance costs
There are no brushes, pads, or chemical cleaners to replace frequently. Steel shot is reusable, and wear parts last thousands of square meters. Steel shot consumption averages only 5–10 g/m², depending on surface condition.
4. Environmentally friendly and energy saving
The process produces no chemical runoff or harmful emissions. The integrated dust collector captures debris, keeping the job site clean and meeting modern environmental standards. Dust collection efficiency reaches 99.5%, leaving no visible residue.
5. Compact and portable design
The machine is small enough to fit through standard doorways and light enough to load onto a truck. You can move it between job sites quickly and start working in minutes. The smallest model weighs only 150 kg and fits in a pickup truck.
Where to Use a Floor Shot Blasting Machine?
- Surface cleaning for concrete and asphalt: The machine removes oil stains, loose particles, old markings, and thin coatings. It leaves a clean, uniform surface ready for inspection or overlay.
- Road repair and rehabilitation: Cracks, small pits, and surface deterioration can be eliminated in one pass. This prepares the area for patching or resurfacing and extends the service life of the pavement. It exposes a sound substrate, ensuring patch adhesion lasts longer.
- Improving skid resistance: The process creates a textured surface that increases friction between tires and the road. This is especially valuable on curves, ramps, and wet or icy pavement. Regular treatment reduces braking distance by up to 15% on wet roads.
- Surface preparation for coatings and waterproofing: It cleans and roughens the floor so that adhesives, sealers, or membranes bond strongly. No loose material or weak layer remains. Profile depth can be controlled from 0.5 to 3 mm for different coating types.
- Steel surface treatment: The machine removes rust, old paint, and mill scale from bridge decks, steel plates, and structural parts. It creates a clean profile for anti-corrosion coatings or painting. Achieves SA 2.5 to SA 3 cleanliness standard in one operation.
